canada v_britain_wheelchair_basketball_14-06-12June 14 - Great Britain's men's wheelchair basketball received an untimely blow in their preparations for the London 2012 Paralympics as they were defeated twice by Canada in a three-team round-robin tournament at the University of Worcester that also featured Spain.

The tournament, titled the Standard Life Continental Clash, saw the Canadians achieve perfection with five wins in five games thanks to a superb performance from Pat Anderson, who is likely to be one of the stars at London 2012.

Britain knew they had their hands full heading into the event as Canada are the reigning Paralympic silver medallists from Beijing 2008 and Spain are  considered one of the dark horses for a medal at the London 2012 Paralympics as they continue to improve year on year.

Canada proved they meant business from the start with a crushing 77-49 win against Spain that included a 23-point, nine-rebound performance by Anderson.

Britain defeated Spain 69-45 later that day but Spain rebounded the next day to secure a 58-43 win against the host nation.

The second day also saw Canada win both of their games with a 66-59 victory over Spain and a 59-45 victory over Britain's B team.

The final day saw the British A side defeat Spain 49-45, outshooting their European rivals despite a strong defensive display in the fourth quarter by the Spaniards.

But in their second match, Canada defeated Britain 64-59 as Anderson tallied 31 points in a fast-paced, physical game which saw 20 of those points coming in the first half alone.

Spain then went on to beat Great Britain's B team 50-39.
