Alexi Salamone_and_Taylor_Chace_26_JulyJuly 26 - The United States has selected its squad for the 2012-2013 ice sledge hockey season.

Taylor Chace will captain the team, which will defend the world title that it won in Hamar, Norway earlier in 2012.

Along with goalkeeper Steve Cash (pictured below) and forward Alexi Salamone (pictured above, left), Chace was a part of the All-Tournament Team for those championships, following a 5-1 drubbing of South Korea in the final.

Next year's World Championships will take place in South Korea, in Goyang City, from April 12 to 20, and acts as a key preparatory event for the Winter Paralympics in Sochi the following year.

The 2013 World Championships will also be the final major event before the Games, with the top five teams in the tournament qualifying for Sochi 2014.

The US will be strong favourites to do just that, particularly as they are also reigning Paralympic champions.

Another key member of the US squad for the upcoming season is Taylor Lipsett, who forged a superb partnership with Salamone at this year's Worlds.

Craig Brady, Declan Farmer and Paul Schaus are all new to the team.

The rest of the selection consists of Tyler Carron, Jen Yung Lee, Daniel McCoy, Kevin McKee, Adam Page, Josh Pauls, Rico Roman and Greg Shaw.
