US Ice_Sledge_Hockey_28_SeptSeptember 29 - The United States Ice Sledge Hockey squad (pictured) has welcomed three new players at their first training camp of the season in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The training session was held at the Extreme Ice Centre and included 14 players who stormed to gold at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Sledge Hockey World Championships in Hamar, Norway earlier this year.

They are joined by defender Craig Brady and forwards Declan Farmer and Paul Schaus.

Brady and Schaus played for the developmental US team last season.

Jeff Sauer also returns to the post of head coach with Guy Gosselin his assistant.

The team is to take on the developmental squad during their training camp as they gear up for the next year's competition.

The US is hoping to defend its title at the 2013 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships in Goyang City, South Korea, and confirm its place at the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games.

The team is to play in a World Sledge Hockey Challenge in Calgary, Canada alter this year and also play the Canadians in a warm up series between February 12 and 18 next year, two months ahead of the World Championships.
