Waldorf Astoria Park CityFebruary 17 - The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) have announced details for the Team USA Media Summit in Park City, Utah, later this year which will see more than 100 athletes aiming for Sochi 2014 in attendance.

The four-day event, which will be held at the giant Waldorf Astoria Park City (pictured top) in Utah, will take place from September 29 to October 2 and will provide an opportunity for journalists to see athletes competing in the Olympics and Paralympics ahead of the Games.

The USOC has hosted the Team USA Media Summit prior to each Olympic and Paralympic Games since 1988.

Previous host cities have included Atlanta, Chicago, Colorado Springs, Dallas, New York City and Salt Lake City.

Park City played a key role when Salt Lake City hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics and staged several events, including the Alpine skiing and snowboarding.

"The Team USA Media Summit provides a valuable opportunity for journalists to become familiar with the stories of America's athletes prior to the Games, and we are excited to bring this event to Park City for the first time," said the USOC chief communications and public affairs officer Patrick Sandusky.

"The state of Utah is one of the world's top winter sports destinations and will provide an inspiring backdrop for this important event.

"We're also pleased to bring the Media Summit to the training home of so many of our 2014 Team USA hopefuls."

The Team USA Media Summit prior to Vancouver 2010 was staged at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago where 84 Team USA hopefuls representing seven Olympic and two Paralympic sports participated in the four-day event.

Of these athletes, 47 had previously competed in an Olympics or Paralympics and 70 represented Team USA at Vancouver 2010, where 32 won medals.

The US finished third overall in the medals at Vancouver 2010 with a total of 37, including nine gold.

Details on booking for the event in Utah this year will be announced in the coming months.
