Chungwon Choue 150413April 15 - World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) President Chungwon Choue has been appointed as an Honorary Consul of Honduras in Seoul in recognition of his work to promote bilateral relations between South Korea and the Central American nation through the sport.

Choue (pictured top, right) was presented with a certificate by Deputy Minister and chief of protocol of the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bae Jae-hyun on behalf of Foreign Affairs Minister Yun Byung-se, in a special ceremony, which was also attended by Honduran Ambassador to Seoul Michel Idiaquez Baradat and dean of the Corps of Honorary Consuls in Korea Cho Hae-hyeong.

"I, Yun Byung-se, Minister of Foreign Affairs, confirm that Mr Chungwon Choue has been appointed by the Government of the Republic of Honduras as its Honorary Consul in Seoul with jurisdiction over Seoul, and hereby recognise him as such, and authorise him to exercise such functions as are permitted to the Honorary Consul by international laws and the laws of the Republic of Korea," the certificate read.

Honduran President Porfirio Lobo Sosa – a 4th Dan black-belt holder – invited Choue, along with members of the WTF demonstration team, to the Presidential Palace of Honduras where Choue received a highest order from Lobo in December last year.

The previous year Lobo visited South Korea at the invitation of then-President Lee Myung-bak and attended a welcoming dinner hosted by Choue.
