The Sydney 2000 Olympian and International Olympic Committee (IOC) member, who has lead the FEI since being elected in 2006, will serve alongside deputy chair Saeed Bin Humaid Mattar Al Tayer, and Board members Mulaih Lahej Al Busti and Mohammed Ahmed Bin Abdel Aziz.

The decree explained that the Dubai Equestrian Club was set up to keep abreast with the "significant development Dubai is witnessing in horse racing and equestrian sports, and to cater for the growing interest of this sport locally and internationally".

The formation of the body was also ordered to set standards and regulations for licensing equestrian facilities in the nation, such as stables for tourism and horse transport vehicles.

In a statement on her website, Princess Haya expressed her thanks "to Sheikh Maktoum and General Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Minister of Defence, for their confidence" in her ability to develop equestrian sport in the UAE.
