On the men's side are the young duo of two-time World University Championships competitor Chong of Melbourne University and Honesto III Reyes Buendia from the University of Sydney, who will compete together in the men's doubles and separately in the men's singles event.

Reyes Buendia's University of Sydney co-student Elena Kwok will compete in the women's singles and doubles events, along with Ann-Louise Slee from Monash University, who represented Australia at the 2010 World Championships and World University Championships.

Badminton will take place at Kazan's unique Tennis Academy for the 2013 Universiade

Finally, competing in the women's singles is Chameka Madurawe, also from the University of Sydney, who is making her debut for the Uniroos after competing for Sri Lanka as a junior.

Badminton at Kazan 2013 will take place at the dazzling Tennis Academy from July 5 to July 11, with six gold medals to be won.

Every single one of the medals won in badminton at the 2011 Universiade in Shenzhen were taken by South-East Asian competitors from Thailand, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, China and Japan.
