June 14 - Panasonic has been named as an Official Supplier to the America's Cup, providing five large LED video boards and 85 flat panel televisions to enhance the on-site fan experience.
The technology provided by the Japanese electronics giant, which is the 34th supplier of the regatta and an Olympic worldwide partner, will be installed throughout the America's Cup Park, Village and Pavilion in San Francisco, and will display live race coverage, social media feeds, feature vignettes, partner programming, and venue updates and information.
"Creating dynamic and compelling video experiences is a hallmark of this America's Cup," said Petra Carran, marketing director for the America's Cup.
"Panasonic is the right choice to allow our fans to enjoy our television and video productions throughout the America's Cup venues."
Jim Doyle, President of Panasonic Eco Solutions North America, added: "Fans now have the opportunity to watch the races in crisp, clear high definition, bringing the racing excitement even closer.
"The America's Cup is a great fit for the Panasonic brand as the precision involved with such high calibre racing is well matched with the quality of the engineering behind our products."
The first of the Cup matches, which will see Oracle take on the winner of the challenger series, is due to take place on September 7 in San Francisco Bay.
