Former Nike executive Mario Andrada has replaced Carlos Villanova as the new communications director of Rio 2016August 26 - A former senior executive at Nike and leading Brazilian journalist has taken up the role of communications director at Rio 2016. 


Mario Andrada has replaced Carlos Villanova, who has returned to work for the Brazilian Government after more than two years involvement in the Olympics and Paralympics.

Andrada was director of communication and emerging markets for the Americas at Nike, a role he had taken up following a distinguished career in journalism which included working for newspapers and television in London and Miami, as well as Brazil.

He was also previously editor for Reuters Latin America service.
