Mondelēz International has signed a deal to be a BPA commercial partner through to March 2017August 27 - The British Paralympic Association (BPA) has signed up Mondelēz International, who through its Cadbury brand was a sponsor of London 2012, as a commercial partner through to March 2017, it announced today.

As part of the deal the American confectionery firm, producer of some of the best-known snacks across the globe including Oreo, Belvita, Milka and Toblerone, joins BT and Sainsbury's on the list of six official partners of the National Paralympic Committee.

It will also continue to support the BPA's SportsFest through the Cadbury Foundation.

"I am delighted that Mondelēz International is continuing its support of the BPA," Tim Hollingsworth, chief executive of the BPA, said.

"Our partnership has gone from strength to strength since we started working together and we are excited to see how the business will bring this to life over the coming months through some of its household brands, as Cadbury did at London 2012.

"The Paralympic Movement is strong in the UK and to have another major sponsor on board is fantastic news."

As part of the Cadbury sponsorship of last summer's Games, Mondelēz sent staff to volunteer at Paralympic Potential Days and supported the likes of double European gold medal winning wheelchair rugby player Mandip Sehmi, Paralympic and world champion sprinter Richard Whitehead and London 2012 bronze medal winning wheelchair tennis athlete Jordanne Whiley through its sporting ambassador programme.

In turn, the athletes visited offices to talk to staff and helped with corporate programmes, including the Spots v Stripes community initiative, which brought people together in deprived areas through sport.

Mondelēz President for the United Kingdom and Ireland, Maurizio Brusadelli, welcomed the new deal and spoke of his excitement in continuing to support the BPA's work.

"I had the opportunity to volunteer at two SportsFest days, and witnessed first-hand how the BPA can help disabled people change their personal expectations of what they can achieve," he said.

"I am proud to be able to continue our relationship with the BPA and we look forward to working with them through to Rio 2016."

The announcement of the deal comes as the BPA prepares to celebrate one year on from the London 2012 Paralympic Games, which ran from August 29 to September 9, with a National Paralympic Day on September 7.
