September 21 - Dan Norton was among the tries in Bucharest as England got off to a flying startSimon Amor's tenure as head coach of the England rugby sevens side got off to an impressive start in Bucharest today as his side recorded four wins in a row at the Grand Prix event in the Romanian capital.

England guaranteed a semi-final spot with one game to spare against Georgia tomorrow with Amor and his charges hitting the ground running as the build-up to the first International Rugby Board (IRB) HSBC Sevens World Series in Australia next month continues.

Former England under-20 captain Alex Gray, wing Ollie Marchon and fly half Christian Lewis-Pratt all touched down in the 19-0 victory against Italy in the first match, before a powerful display against neighbours and 2013 Hong Kong runners-up Wales saw the English side run in six tries with Dan Norton scoring twice and Tom Mitchell, Tom Powell, Mike Ellery and Phil Burgess also touching down in an emphatic 40-7 win.

Hosts Romania were next up for Amor's side, and this was an altogether tighter affair as an Andrei Bucurescu try levelled things up following John Brake's early score but captain Powell came to the rescue for the men in white to secure a 14-7 win.

There was another early scare for England in their final game of the day as Portugal took the lead through Pedro Avila but two tries from Powell and one each from Mitchell and Marcus Watson eventually wrapped up a 26-14 victory.

Meanwhile in Group B, Spain caused somewhat of an upset in their opening game as they defeated France and followed that up with another impressive display against the Ukraine but their momentum was halted by Germany who also recorded wins over the Ukraine and Scotland.

Germany's only defeat on the day came against Russia who also beat Scotland and Spain but their 100 per cent record was dented by France, who recovered from their opening defeat to also overcome Scotland and the Ukraine.

The final round of games in Group's A and B and the semi-finals and final are due take place in Bucharest tomorrow.
