European 5,000 metres champion Olga Golovkina has become the 32nd Russian athlete this year to fail a doping testOctober 4 - European 5,000 metres Olga Golovkina has become the latest high-profile Russian athlete to be banned after failing a drugs test, it was announced today.

The 26-year-old from Perm has been suspended for two years after testing positive for anabolic steroids during an out-of-competition test on July 16.

She is the 32nd Russian athlete to have been banned this year.

Golovkina had also finished second in this year in the Summer Universiade at Kazan, winning her silver medal just five days before she failed her test for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone, the All Russia Athletics Federation revealed.

Ukrainian javelin thrower Roman Avramenko had tested positive for the same anabolic steroid at this year's World Championships in Moscow, where he finished fifth.

Golovkina's ban will expire on August 1, 2015, meaning she will not be able to defend her title won in Helsinki last year.

She had also competed at London 2012, finishing ninth in the 5,000m, setting a personal best of 15min 05.26sec.
