The American side come into the third edition of the Championships on the back of a bronze medal at London 2012, and will start as favourites to add to their wins in 2009 and 2011.

The three-time Paralympic champions have had a good 2013 so far, with the highlight being their victory in June's Denmark Wheelchair Rugby Challenge in Odense which saw them return to the top of the world rankings in the process.

Head coach James Gumbert's side also overcame the London 2012 champions Australia and New Zealand at the Tri-Nations tournament in Sydney last month.

Canada, ranked number three in the world, are once again expected to be the main challengers to the US at this year's event, and will be hoping to make it third time lucky after losing out to their neighbours in the previous two finals in Buenos Aires in 2009, and Bogota in 2011.

The silver medallists from London 2012 will be looking to rising star Zak Madell to once again inspire them to success after the 19-year-old starred at last year's Paralympic Games and carried on his form to pick up the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in Odense.

Brazil. who begin their campaign against the Canadians, come into the tournament at the Lakeshore Foundation in Birmingham as the topped ranked South American nation and will be looking to at least match their performance from two years ago which seen them take the bronze medal.
