The first work session included a meeting with the Brazilian Confederation of University Sports (CBDU) President Luciano Cabral, the Assistant Secretary of Sport, Celio Renne and Deputy Secretary of Tourism for Brasilia, Geraldo Bentes.

At the meeting Cabral presented the concept of the 2019 candidacy, the facilities that Brasilia offers, the importance of this student-sport event for South America, and stressed the support of Brasilia's citizens.

Gallien claimed that Brazil is considered one of the major emerging countries and its development should be focused on the education of youth.

"Sport is a part of this education, which should be interdisciplinary," he said.

The venue inspection began with a visit to the Olympic Centre at the University of Brazil.

Here, President of the University, Ivan Camargo met with the FISU officials to present the area and discuss how it would be renovated in order to cater for the competition.
