The partnership will see the IPC Academy deliver a range of knowledge workshops across the next five years as part of the IPC Academy Excellence Programme, and is geared towards enhancing the planning and delivery of the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games.

"We are excited to sign the third edition of the Excellence Programme with Pyeongchang," said Xavier Gonzalez, the IPC's chief executive.

"The workshops, observers programme and simulation programme that are delivered as part of our integrated approach to knowledge management for the Paralympic Games has developed over the past few years and we aim to continually enhance this offer through this partnership with Pyeongchang."

The IPC Academy is the education partner of the IPC working together to improve educational standards within sport throughout the Paralympic Movement and ensuring that executives, administrators and officials have an educational centre that is sensitive to their needs and in touch with trends and developments.

The 2018 programme will be split into three distinct sections covering a whole host of areas related to staging Paralympic Games.

Knowledge workshops will give Pyeongchang 2018 staff the opportunity to work together to solve issues that could be faced in the build up to the Games, as well as giving them the chance to hear from industry experts on past experiences and the best practices available to help run a smooth and successful event.

The first of these workshops is due to be held next month, with further workshops being delivered through to 2017.

The next step will see the IPC Academy host a simulation and readiness programme which provides a framework for the Pyeongchang 2018 to undertake specific Paralympic Games exercises.

Throughout these sessions the IPC Academy undertakes observation and feedback of the senior staff in preparation for Games time delivery and decision making.

Sochi 2014 recently participated in such a workshop in Manchester, where the World Academy of Sport is based, as part of their IPC Academy Excellence Programme ahead of next year's Games.

A similar programme has also been agreed with Rio 2016.

Finally, the observers programme and Games debrief will see members of Pyeongchang 2018 attend Sochi 2014 and Rio 2016 to observe Games-time delivery and provide valuable insights and an understanding of operational delivery.

Several months after the Sochi Games, in July 2014, Pyeongchang 2018 will lead a debriefing session to reflect and discuss key outcomes of the Games, helping them build on their own preparations for 2018.
