November 22 - The BMC has announced the launch of a new online video channel © BMCThe British Mountaineering Council (BMC) has announced the launch of a new online video platform which will showcase the latest climbing, hill walking and mountaineering action, along with interviews and skills sessions from some of the top names in the sport.

Launched at the Kendal Mountain Festival, thebmc.tv is a stand-alone video site that will work in partnership with the BMC's main website and supplement the organisation's Twitter and Facebook pages, as well as features in industry magazine Summit.

The main aim of the new platform is to gain more exposure and showcase all aspects of the sport as well as covering events such as local festivals, competitions and seminars, according to the BMC.

The new service, part funded by Sport England, will also feature the official channels of the Kendal Mountain Festival and the British Mountain Guides, and the BMC claims that it is fully optimised for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.

There are more than 200 films already onsite with skills clips covering areas such as using a compass and tying a figure of eight knot soon to be added.
