As the only African team to compete at London 2012, Algeria are strong favourites and they got their competition off to a perfect start with a 10-0 victory over Ghana.

Egypt gained two victories on day one over Morocco and Rwanda but the clash of the day saw Ghana gain amends for their earlier defeat with a high scoring 21-11 win over hosts Kenya.

On day two Algeria and Egypt continued their unbeaten records while Rwanda also impressed after getting the better of both Morocco and Ghana in their two encounters.

The final day of round robin action then saw the eagerly anticipated showdown between the two unbeaten teams which was won by Algeria with a 9-3 victory over the Egyptians, before the favourites showed their class by winning again over Rwanda.

Despite that defeat Rwanda still qualified for the semi-finals while the final place was taken by Morocco as they mounted a late charge with two final day victories.

Morocco will now have the thankless task of facing Algeria in the semi-final while the other will pit Rwanda against Egypt, while Ghana will take on Kenya in a playoff for fifth place.

After a rest day on Friday the semi-finals and medal matches will all take place on Saturday (December 7) as the Championships reach a conclusion.
