January 9 - Sochi 2014 has launched an updated version of its official website ©Sochi 2014Sochi 2014 has launched a new revamped version of its official website for the Olympics and Paralympics as the countdown continues to the start of the Winter Games on February 7.

The Organising Committee claims the updated website, which is expected to attract about 100 million visitors during the Olympics and Paralympics, is highly interactive, offering easy access to information about participating athletes, sport disciplines and the city of Sochi.

As well as a timetable of events for the 15 sports taking place, the homepage features the latest news and photographs, along with a countdown clock to the start of the event.

It also features links to the five main sections - Schedule and Results, Sport, Medals, Athletes and Countries.

The medals section gives visitors access to information about the awards that will be presented during Sochi 2014, along with past Games medal standings.

Other features include a "Spectator guide", which contains information on the staging area of the Games, venues and services, while there is also a "Team support" section that allows fans to support their favourite athlete or country through social networks such VKontakte, Facebook and Twitter.

Meanwhile, a "Voice of the Games" section will be updated every 15 to 20 minutes to provide visitors with news from the Games, partners and events.

The site also has special features for users with visual impairments.
