The blue of the Baku 2014 logo represents the sea, say organisers ©Azerbaijan Gymnastics FederationJanuary 22 - The logo of the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships to be held in Baku in June has been revealed.

It depicts a gymnast with a hoop doubling up as the zero in 2014.

The Championships, to be held in the under-construction National Gymnastics Arena in the Azerbaijan capital, will run from June 13 to 15.

"A girl with a hoop depicted on the logo reflects the Championships and reinforces [the] status of Baku as the European rhythmic gymnastics capital in 2014," said a spokesperson for the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation.

"[The] color of the sea was chosen as the brand identity colour based on the geographical location of Baku on the coast of the Caspian Sea."

The logo was presented at a meeting of the organising committee for the Championships.

Nine sets of medals will be up for grabs during the three days of competition.

The delegations of participating countries, expected to be more than 30, will be accommodated in the prospective Olympic village - built for the first European Games next year - opposite the competitions venue.
