The deal, described as "historic", will also see Arena become FINA's exclusive supplier of swimwear, sportswear, swimming equipment, and training aids for all officers, staff and volunteers involved in the events.

"We are naturally thrilled to have signed this major agreement with FINA, it's truly an historic event for us," said Arena chief executive Cristiano Portas.

"Swimming is our life here at Arena, and so to be even more closely involved with swimming's premier events, as well as with the life of the sport's global governing body makes us very proud, besides representing a real boost for the growth of the brand."

The major events which will be sponsored by Arena include the FINA World Masters Championships in 2015, 2017 and 2019; the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in 2014, 2016 and 2018; and the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in 2015, 2017 and 2019.

FINA President Julio C. Maglione said: "This is a very important step forward in our successful relationship with Arena.

"This prestigious brand is widely recognised by some of the best athletes of the world as giving optimal conditions for memorable performances.

"Being associated with our major competitions - FINA World Championships, FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) and FINA World Masters Championships - gives Arena a privileged stage to display the quality and excellence of their products.

"It also brings significant benefit for our athletes and officials, raising the image, exposure and prestige of these events worldwide".

Arena's sponsorship collaboration with FINA dates back to the 1980s.

Most recently the brand has been a primary sponsor of the annual FINA World Cup series.

The first event where the newly agreed collaboration will apply will be the 2014 World Short Course Championships in Doha in December.
