As part of the latest agreement Atos will provide "integration and systems management and core hosting services" as well as other support for the Games in both Pyeongchang 2018 and Tokyo 2020.

This follows the announcement on Thursday (February 6) of a similar extension to the IOC's partnership with Panasonic for another eight years until 2024.

"Technology is critical to the success of each edition of the Olympic Games," said IOC President Thomas Bach after today's announcement.

"We are delighted that we will be able to continue relying on Atos and its vast experience to deliver flawless, innovative IT services".

The French IT services company have been a technology provider for the Olympic Movement since 1989 when they provided services to Barcelona 1992, and are currently supporting the Organising Committees of Sochi 2014 and Rio 2016

Since 2001, they have also been the IOC's Worldwide Information Technology Partner.

 "Atos provides the Olympic Movement with confidence and security by supplying dependable IT systems", said chairman of the IOC Marketing Commission Gerhard Heiberg.

"After many years of working with Atos, who have consistently delivered on one of the biggest global stages, we are delighted that we will continue to partner with them long into the future".

Thierry Breton, chairman and chief executive of Atos, was similarly pleased when he announced that the company are "particularly proud of our long-term partnership with the International Olympic Committee - a relationship based on enduring trust".
