February 14 - The ChangeMakers campaign wants to highlight organisations and projects that are helping to change lives through Para-sport ©IPC/Agitos Foundation A campaign been launched by the Agitos Foundation, calling on people to come forward with stories about how the Paralympics has changed their lives or the societies they live in ahead of the United Nations (UN) International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on April 6.

The ChangeMakers campaign hopes to uncover previously unknown organisations, groups and people who are currently working to develop sport or physical activity where they live, in order to bring them into the global network of the Agitos Foundation for projects, programmes and resources.

The Foundation revealed it plans to launch a Facebook page to share the stories with the world and they will also be published on the ChangeMakers website.

"We know that there are a huge number of organisations, especially smaller groups of people and even individuals, who are carrying out really great work to develop Para-sport at regional, national and local levels." said Georg Schlachtenberger, director of the Agitos Foundation

"These are the real ChangeMakers.

"Many of these people do this work completely under the radar and that needs to change.

"We want to encourage them to share their stories about people with an impairment whose lives have changed through sport and from sports teams and programmes that use sport to improve the lives of people with an impairment around the world."

The Agitos Foundation is the development arm of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and was set up in the aftermath of London 2012 in order to contribute to the worldwide growth of the Paralympic Movement.

Anyone interested in submitting a story to the ChangeMakers campaign has until March 17 and for more details of how to take part click here.
