The London 2012 Paralympic gold medallist managed to stave off a tough challenge from her compatriot Megan Pascoe, who was forced to settle for second in each race.

The pair are battling for a spot on the British team for the Rio 2016 Games, with only one athlete able to make the trip to Brazil.

Mallorca is the fourth of five ISAF Sailing World Cup regattas in the 2013-2014 season and Pascoe is currently leading the world rankings following her victory in Miami earlier this year.

Today's results saw the British duo pull clear of the chasing pack as Norwegian sailor Bjørnar Erikstad, who secured victory in this event last year, sits in third on seven points.

The Norwegian started the day brightly, finishing third in the opening race, however he drifted further afield of the British pair after dropping to fourth in the day's second event.

Austria's Sven Reiger kept his medal hopes alive when he battled past Erikstad in the second race to take third.

The opening race saw him finish fifth behind Britain's Will Street.

Racing in the 16-boat 2.4mR continues tomorrow at 11:00 local time.
