A world record lift from Egypt's Randa Mahmoud, meanwhile, sealed the win in a dramatic finale to the women's under 86kg category.

Nigeria's reigning Paralympic champion Loveline Obiji looked to be on her way to securing another title when she registered a lift of 139kg in the second round, which was 4kg more than nearest rival Mahmoud.

Her position was strengthened even further when she broke her own world record of 140kg with her third lift, adding 2.5kg to the mark.

London 2012 silver medallist Mahmoud set the bar at 143kg for her final attempt and although her lift was deemed as a failed attempt, the Egyptian and her team appealed and the judges reversed their original decision to hand Mahmoud a dramatic win and the world crown.

The bronze medal went to Russian Olga Kiseleva with an effort of 123kg.

The men's competition also saw another London 2012 champion fail to add World Championship gold to his collection as Egyptian Mohamed Eldib lost out to Ibrahim.

The Nigerian made up for missing out on London 2012 through injury by besting the field with a lift of 235kg.

Ibrahim opened with an effort of 224kg but was immediately bettered by Eldib who posted 230kg before failing with his attempt at 233kg.

Ibrahim went for the win putting 235kg on the bar and the 35-yera-old nailed his final attempt to take the world title.

"It was not that I expected to win gold today but it depended on my preparation and I had confidence," said the Nigerian afterwards.

Iraq's Thaer Al-Ali took bronze with a lift of 219kg ahead of China's Dong Qi.

The junior world title went to 18-year-old Argentinean Lucas Ezequiel Gareca, who posted a new Americas record of 147kg to finish clear of Denis Karasev of Russia, who set a European mark of 133kg to take silver while bronze went to Ibrahim Almusaabi of the United Arab Emirates.

Tomorrow sees the final day of action in Dubai with three world titles up for grabs in the women's over 86kg category and the men's under 107kg and over 107kg classes.
