Robinson, a promising 20-year-old who also competes in the triple jump, tested positive for a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) during the Jamaican Junior National Championships last June.

The sanction was handed down by the chairman of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel, Kent Pantry, following a hearing at the Jamaica Conference Centre in Kingston.

With the ban having been backdated to when he first tested positive, Robinson will be eligible to compete again on June 17 this year.

The youngster becomes the latest Jamaican to be suspended after a positive doping test, with Olympic sprinters Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson and discus thrower Allison Randall, all banned last week.

Former 100 meters world record holder Powell was suspsended for 18 months last Thursday (April 10) after testing positive for the banned stimulant oxilophrine.

Powell claims he took the drug inadvertently after being handed it by his trainer and plans to appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Simpson, a 4x100m relay gold medallist at Athens 2004 who won a silver medal in the same event at London 2012, also plans to appeal her 18-month suspension after testing positive for the same substance.

But speaking last week to insidethegames, Jamaican Olympic Association President Mike Fennell claimed it was good that decisions are now being made following a lengthy process since the failed tests were first announced.
