Abdulrahman Askar will remain as Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary for another year ©Bahrain Olympic CommitteeThe Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) has approved its constitution after amendments from the International Olympic Committee.

Its wording was agreed at the third meeting of the BOC Board in the capital Manama.

Meanwhile, general secretary Abdulrahman Askar will continue in his role for another year, it has been announced,

Askar was appointed acting general secretary in May last year, and will remain in post for a further 12 months after approval from Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Board members also signed off on the make-up of its Standing Committees, with Khalid Ismail named head of the Medial Committee, which also comprises Abduljalil Asad, Lounes Madene and Dr Khalid Al Shaikh.

Adel Al Assami heads the Marketing Committee, featuring Ali Qassim, Ghazi Radi, Mohammed Sharida, Abeer Swar and Ahmed Bumjaid.

The Technical Committee includes head Ali Ishaqi and members Dawood Al Manea, Dr Hussain Jaffer, Essam Abdulla, Lounes Madene, Mohammed Lori and Hahayt Al Sayed.

They will all submit regular reports to the BOC Board.

The meeting began with BOC vice-president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa congratulating Shaikh Nasser on his recent appointment by a Royal Order as His Majesty the King's Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs.

Shaikh Nasser will head Bahrain's delegation to the Asian Games in Incheon, which is due to take place from September 19 to October 4, while Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa has been named head of the delegation to the Asian Beach Games in Phuket scheduled for November 14 to 21.

The Summer Youth Olympics Games in Nanjing, set to take place from August 16 to 28, will be headed by Abdulhakim Al Shino.
