The Jordan Olympic Committee has launched an initiative to help bring sport to everyone in Jordan ©JOCThe Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC), led by President Prince Feisal Al Hussein, has launched a new initiative which hopes to bring sport to the lives of all Jordanians.

The Living Sport initiative, launched today during Olympic Day celebrations in Al Hussein Sports City, looks to address concerns over the nation's collective health and wellbeing, and the continuous threat of young people falling victim to damaging and anti-social distractions.

"Living Sport is a long-term programme which will be at the heart of all JOC activity and operations, and which will evolve as needed through time to remain relevant to all that we do," said Prince Feisal.

"There is no end date to sport making a difference to the lives of our citizens and so Living Sport has no end date.

"We, in the Olympic Movement, truly believe in the power of sport to make a positive difference, and the Jordan Olympic Committee is taking responsibility, alongside like-minded organisations, in making that difference."

The initiative stands on five pillars all looked at increasing participation in sport in Jordan and addressing key health and social issues.

These "strands" consist of, "community well-being", which will see a one-month annual campaign launched every year on Olympic Day; "changing the mindset", which will look to promote sport as universal and without barriers to participation; "having fun", an ambassador initiative which will reach out to the next generation in order to excite and enthuse them in areas of sport; "promoting our heroes", which will celebrate sporting success across Jordan; and "the business of sport", a project that looks to make sport more marketable to both fans and sponsors.

The launch came during Olympic Day celebrations held in Al Hussein Sports City, when the JOC was joined by representatives from all 34 of the sporting federations under its umbrella, as well as 200 school children who took part in activities promoting Living Sport and the Olympic values.
