FIFA has lifted its suspension on the Nigeria Football Federation ©Getty ImagesFIFA has lifted its suspension of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after the national governing body's Board was reinstated.

Football's international federation banned the country for Government interference the day after its exit from the World Cup after a court order resulted in the disbanding of the NFF following allegations of corruption.

Nigeria's Sports Minister, Tammy Danagogo, then appointed a senior member of the civil service to manage the NFF, while NFF President Aminu Maigari was detained by police on his arrival back from Brazil, but later released.

However, the court order has now been withdrawn and the Executive Committee returned to their positions following discussions with FIFA.

"FIFA has noted that the court proceedings and order preventing the President of the NFF, the NFF Executive Committee members and the NFF Congress from running the affairs of Nigerian football that prompted the suspension have been withdrawn," read a FIFA statement.

"As statutory order has been reinstated at the NFF and the legitimate bodies reinstalled, FIFA has decided to lift the suspension as of today, Friday 18 July 2014."

The move means the nation's football teams can now participate in international competitions, including the Under-20 Women's World Cup in Canada next month and their Confederation of African Football (CAF) Under-17 Championship qualifying match against Rwanda later this month.
