The Polish Olympic Committee has announced Lux Med Group as its new chief medical partner ©POCThe Polish Olympic Committee (POC) has signed a new partnership deal which will see Lux Med Group act as its chief medical partner.

The firm will begin working with the POC straight away with the first priority being preparations for next year's inaugural European Games in Baku.

The agreement was signed at POC headquarters in Warsaw today between POC President Andrew Kraśnicki and Lux Med Group President Anna Rulkiewicz.

Kraśnicki expressed his hope that thanks to an agreement with such a reliable and reputable medical services and health care provider that all Polish Olympic athletes' needs will be covered by as attention turns to Baku 2015 and the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

"Contemporary sport is characterised by high [fitness requirements] and requires high-quality medical and security at every stage of the training process," said Kraśnicki.

"Collaboration with the Lux Med Group [who] possess a well-prepared team of highly qualified specialists [will] surely enable us to create a group of our best athletes [through] extremely professional health care.

"We would like to first and foremost [concentrate] on specialised studies and also the treatment of injuries [of course]."

Lux Med Group is Poland's largest private medical network and has 161 facilities throughout the country looking after around 1.6 million patients.

The company has a number of hospitals that operate under the brand names Lux Med, Carolina Medical Center, Endoterapia and MegaMed.

"We are a leader in the medical market and it is important for us that we have the opportunity to work with the best in their path to Olympic success," said Rulkiewicz.

Poland won six medals at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics that included two gold medals for ski jumper Kamil Stoch as well as golds for cross-country skier Justyna Kowalczyk and speed skater Zbigniew Bródka.

At London 2012 Poland finished 30th winning 10 medals, including gold for weightlifter Adrian Zieliński and shot putter Tomasz Majewski.
