It is due to replace Sky Sports Four from 6am British Summer Time on September 18 and run until 6am on October 2.

The Channel is set to provide more than 330 hours of golf across 14 days, including 36 hours of live coverage from Gleneagles to include all the build-up to the event and reaction afterwards.

The actual match between the top golfers of Europe and the United States is scheduled to take place from September 26 to 28.

The pop-up channel will run a host of preview programming in the week leading up to the event, while also covering the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as an exclusive interview special with European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley of Ireland.

"We're dedicating a whole channel to the biggest event in golf, providing viewers with the complete Ryder Cup experience all in one place," said Sky Sports managing director Barney Francis.

"There will be nowhere better for sports fans to enjoy the passion, drama and excitement of this incredible event.

"We'll offer round-the-clock build up, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and exclusive live coverage of all three days from Gleneagles.

"We're incredibly proud of our partnership with golf and its fitting we mark our 10th Ryder Cup on Sky Sports with an entire channel.

"We can't wait."

David Livingstone will front the live coverage of the match and will be joined in the studio by former 2010 winning European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie of Scotland, renowned US coach Butch Harmon and a special appearance on the final day's play from 18-time major winner Jack Nicklaus, who captained the US to victory at the 1983 event in Florida.

England's Nick Dougherty and Scottish player Andrew Coltart will provide daily analysis of the match during a highlights programme that will be presented by Sarah Stirk.

Sky Sports Ryder Cup will be available on television, online and via mobile and tablet devices with Sky Go, while non-subscribers can get seven days access to the channel contract free on TV and a range of devices with NOW TV.

In addition, visitors to Gleneagles will have access to the channel for free whether they are Sky Sports subscribers or not due to complimentary wifi provided by The Ryder Cup and access to Sky Sports provided by Sky Go and NOW TV.

"The dedication shown by Sky Sports in showcasing both The European Tour and The Ryder Cup is matched only by the continued excellence and innovation of their programming, as will be further illustrated by the 'Sky Sports Ryder Cup' channel this September," said George O'Grady, chief executive of The European Tour.

"We are extremely proud of our relationship with Sky Sports and we thank them for their continued commitment and look forward to working together at Gleneagles and beyond."

McGinley will lead a European side looking to win a third consecutive Ryder Cup after victories at Celtic Manor, Wales in 2010 and last time out at the Medinah Country Club in Illinois in the US.

Eight-time major winner Tom Watson will captain the US team.
