Divac was admitted to a hospital in the Serbian capital Belgrade on August 2 after complaining of feeling "strong pains in his stomach," according to doctors.

A spokesperson for the Olympic Committee of Serbia did not specify the exact nature of Divac's complaint but confirmed the 46-year-old has been released from hospital.

"President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia Vlade Divac is recovering after surgery," insidethegames was told.

"He was released from hospital and the medical team of the Olympic Committee of Serbia is monitoring his condition on a daily basis.

"The most important thing is that the President of the NOC of Serbia recovers as soon as possible, and after that he will return to his daily activities in the Olympic Committee of Serbia."

Divac played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Charlotte Hornets, Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings from 1989 to 2005.

Divac is one of only six players in NBA history to record 13,000 points, 9,000 rebounds, 3,000 assists and 1,500 blocked shots, along with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Tim Duncan,Shaquille O'Neal, Kevin Garnett and Hakeem Olajuwon.

Divac was also the first player born and trained outside the United States to play in over 1,000 games in the NBA, leading to him being inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2010.

He has been President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia since 2009.

In January, Divac's 77-year-old father Milenko Divac died in hospital after the car he was in struck a pole and overturned several times near the Serbian city of Čačak.
