The Northern Irish star clocked 21.67sec in Swansea to add the 200m gold to the 100m title he claimed on Tuesday (August 19).

"I'm delighted and over the moon," Smyth said.

"I came to the Championships for two gold medals so it's nice to stand here knowing that's what I've done."

Spain's Joan Munar Martínez finished second in 22.28 to join Smyth on the podium along with bronze medallist Artem Loginov of Russia, who finished in a time of 22.55.

Double world champion Marlou van Rhijn also secured her second gold medal of the Championships today with a victory in the 200m T44.

The Dutchwoman crossed the line with a season's best 26.89 ahead of German silver medallist Irmgard Bensusan and bronze medallist Laura Sugar of Great Britain.

There was more success for Britain in the form of 14-year-old talent Maria Lyle, who added the 200m T35 title to the 100m one she had claimed last night.

The promising star's winning time of 31.05 was more than three seconds clear of Italian world champion Oxana Corso, who took silver.

The bronze medal went to Ukraine's Svitlana Mykytina.

Meanwhile, Britain's Samantha Kinghorn is now a triple European champion thanks to her gold medal winning time of 2min18.40sec in the 800m T53, which saw her push past Turkey's Hamide Kurt for victory.

"It was a pretty tough race today," the wheelchair racer, who had already won her 100m and 400m events, said.

"I was trying to think how to get round her [Kurt].

"I sneaked into the inside and was really glad to get through - it was quite scary doing it that way."

It was a good for Germany on the field as the nation secured three gold medals thanks to world record holder Vanessa Low in the long jump T42, who jumped a winning 4.24 metres, multiple Paralympic medallist Martina Willing in the javelin F56, who threw a best of 20.71m, and Reinhold Boetzel in the high jump F47, who managed a season's best 1.80m.

Lithuania picked up their first gold medal of the Championships courtesy of Jonas Spudis, who held on to his early lead in the javelin F44 to throw a personal best 50.81m to secure victory ahead of Ukraine's Maksym Solyankin and Switzerland's Patrick Stoll, who clinched the silver and bronze medals respectively.

Latvia also claimed their first gold medal of the competition when Aigars Apinis threw a winning season's best 19.68m in the men's discus F52 event.

"I had a lot of fun," he said.

"It's not easy when you come in as favourite but it was a new season's best so I can't complain."

Apinis was joined on the podium by silver medal winner Robert Jachimowicz of Poland and Slovenian bronze medallist Henrik Plank.

Elsewhere, four-time Paralympic gold medallist David Casino added the European title to his collection with a victory in the discus F11.

The Spaniard, who in the past competed successfully in the shot put before switching to the discus throw, threw 38.70m for the continental crown.

"I put a lot of emotion into every throw and I was really willing that discus to fly a long way," Casino said.

"I've won a lot of major titles but it still feels very special."

The silver medal went to Poland's Miroslaw Madzia, while Ukrainian Vasyl Lishchynskyi claimed the bronze.

Gold in the shot put F34 went to Oleksandr Aliekseienko of Ukraine, who managed 7.67m, while Bulgaria's Stela Eneva claimed gold in the women's discus F57, bettering 2012 European champion Orla Barry of Ireland with a season's best 31.88m.
