Britain, Hungary, Israel and The Netherlands will compete for a place in the World Championships in the Kent town from January 9 to 11.

A total of 24 teams will contest the 20th edition of the Championships, scheduled to take place in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul from July 19 to August 2, 2015.

Handball was a popular feature at the Olympics in London three years ago and David Meli, British Handball director and England Handball chief executive, has welcomed its return to Great Britain.

"We're delighted to have top-class international handball back on these shores," he told England Handball's official website.

"This event offers us the chance to showcase this fantastic sport and give the British public the opportunity to see the best young players in the country.

"British Handball is delighted to be working in partnership with Medway Council in hosting this tournament and look forward to creating a great atmosphere as our team strives to reach the World Championship finals."

On January 9, The Netherlands are due to face Hungary before Britain go up against Israel.

Day two sees Israel meet The Netherlands and Britain do battle with Hungary, while the final day of action pits Hungary against Israel and Britain against The Netherlands.

Tickets for matches are £5.00 ($8/€6.50) for adults, with children being granted free admission.
