The nation announced its bid for the showpiece tournament earlier this week, with Egyptian Handball Federation President Khaled Hamouda saying he believes his country has "a good chance" to secure the rights to stage the competition.

Aremou welcomed the news of the bid.

"I hereby inform you that the executive committee favourably appreciated the way you managed and decided to support that candidature," he wrote in a letter to Hamouda.

"I encourage you in your initiative."

Egypt has previously hosted the World Men's Handball Championship, having successfully staged the 1999 edition.

The next edition of the tournament is set to take place in Qatar - marking the first time it has been hosted in the Gulf region - from January 15 to February 1.

It will then travel to France in 2017, before being staged in both Germany and Denmark in 2019.
