Iranian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) President Mahmoud Khosravivafa has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Asian nation's Special Education Organisation in order to improve relations between the two bodies.

This will help promote sports for people with disabilities, especially children and young adults, it was declared following a meeting in Tehran attended by various official involved in Paralympic sport.

"This MoU and close co-operation is an opportunity to find potentialities," Khosravivafa said.

"Since about 10 years ago, we always have kept our co-operation with Special Education Organisation and with the goodwill of the chairman of the Organisation.

"This glorious event happened to provide closer-than-before relationships between the two entities."

Iranian athletes have competed at every Summer Paralympics since Seoul 1988, finishing 11th on the medals table with 10 golds in a 24 medal haul.

They also finished fourth on the medals table, with 37 gold medals, at last October's Asian Para Games in Incheon, and will be hoping to improve their fortunes further next year at Rio 2016.

"Considering our fruitful interactions between the two organisations, now we have gathered here to emphasise on already planned programmes such as talent identification," added Special Education Organisation chairman, Majid Ghadami.

And based on our [recent] agreement, our instructors will take part in educational courses conducted by IR (Islamic Republic of) Iran NPC."
