Small blocks of new tickets for some of the most high-demand events at this year's Pan American Games have been made available by Toronto 2015, as athletes start to arrive in Canada for Opening Ceremony on Friday (July 10).

With the Games just days away, Toronto 2015 are set to release tickets for events,  including the Opening Ceremony, basketball and athletics, tomorrow at 11am local time, with fans able to purchase tickets online at by clicking here.

Equestrian, football  and diving are other sports in which new tickets are due to be up for grabs, with the fresh batch of tickets made available following the confirmation of the number of athletes and officials set to attend competition, allowing them to accommodate seating adjustments and ensure good sight lines for spectators.

"We're very excited to finally be able to release these tickets to the public and we expect them to go fast," said Saäd Rafi, chief executive of Toronto 2015.

"This is the first time some of these events have been available since September 2014.

“As expected, we’re selling more tickets every day as we get closer to the Games.

“This is a great opportunity to see some high-demand events."

Toronto 2015 have urged fans to snap up their tickets quickly as there are set to be a limited number on offer with no further blocks of tickets due to be made available for in-demand events after this these ones are sold.

Currently around three-quarters of a million tickets for the Games have been purchased, it is claimed, with over 100 Pan American Games events, including nearly 75 medal events, being full sold out.

Olympic swimming silver and bronze medallist Ryan Cochrane urged fans to buy tickets to cheer on the home athletes at the Games, due to last until July 16. 

“Racing in front of a home crowd gives us a huge benefit over our competitors: not only seeing that red and white, but hearing the roar of the crowd can really help you push through the pain you feel at the end of your race,” he said.

“It’s a humbling and exciting time to be an athlete in Canada, and swimming in front of a sold-out crowd at home is an experience I’m absolutely looking forward to.”

Tickets for Parapan American Games event range from CAD$20 (£11/$16/€15) to CAD$35 (£19/$29/€27) for adults, while a limited number of half-price tickets can be bought by people aged 65 and over or under the age of 16, with some discount tickets starting at CAD$10 (£5.50/$8/€7.50).

By purchasing a ticket the holder will also gain access to transport on the day of their event.
