Money transfer company MoneyGram has announced it will sponsor next month's European Men's Handball Championship in Poland.

The tournament, organised by the European Handball Federation's (EHF), is due to be held from January 15 to 31 and having become a sponsor, MoneyGram will benefit from receiving strong brand positioning at matches throughout the duration of the competition.

Sixteen national teams are set to feature in a total of 48 matches, which will be spread across the cities of Kraków, Katowice, Wrocław, and Gdansk.

"It is a great pleasure to welcome a new brand to handball and to the men's EHF EURO 2016," said Jean Brihault, EHF president.

"For official sponsors, such as MoneyGram, the event will offer an exceptional opportunity to reach fans of the sport across Europe and worldwide, as Poland plays host to the biggest and highest profile European Championship to date."

In addition to advertising at matches, MoneyGram are also set to create a European Handball Championship magazine that will be distributed in the company’s stores across Poland.

It will provide fans with information about the tournament, such as the top players and where matches are being held.

Several MoneyGram promotional booths are also set to be positioned at key matches, allowing fans to enjoy various attractions offered by the company at the venues.

France will head into the tournament as defending champions, having won their third title by defeating the host nation Denmark in the final of the 2014 edition at the Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning.
