Sports management company Pro10 has been appointed as the Authorised Rio 2016 Olympic Games Ticket Reseller for the Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI).

Pro10 will provide a range of ticket and hospitality packages to those wishing to follow the Irish team at next year’s Games in the Brazilian city.

Tickets will be available across a range of sports, venues and sessions and the company are inviting those interested to contact them for more information.

The company, Ireland's leading sports management agency, specialise in representing top professional footballers, coaches and managers in Britain, Ireland and the United States.

They offer services including contract negotiation, legal advice and image rights.

THG Sports were Ireland's Authorised Ticket Reseller for London 2012.

The announcement comes after the online sales phase for seats for Rio 2016, the first Olympic Games to ever be held in South America, for Brazilian residents was launched in October.

Tickets for events that had previously been sold out were made available to those who live in Brazil on October 20.

The online ticketing portal is expected to be opened up to non-Brazilian residents in June 2016 ahead of the Opening Ceremony, which is due to take  place on August 5.

All seats at 121 of the 694 sessions available were sold-out after the first round of sales, including all tickets for the triathlon, the marathon swimming and synchronised swimming events.

insidethegames was told in August that international demand for Rio 2016 tickets was exceeding current levels on sale.

Those interested in travelling to Rio de Janeiro to follow the Irish athletes will be hoping to see their country’s competitors improve on the haul of five medals they achieved at London 2012.

Women’s boxer Katie Taylor was Ireland’s sole Olympic gold medallist at London 2012, winning in the lightweight division.

Four of their five podium finishes came in boxing as John Joe Nevin earned men’s bantamweight silver, while Paddy Barnes and Michael Conlan claimed bronze in the light flyweight and flyweight categories respectively.

Ireland’s other medal came thanks to Cian O’Connor, who sealed bronze in the individual equestrian jumping event.
