Four cities are in the running to host next year's International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Race Walking Team Championships, while there is a sole bidder for the 2016 World Junior Championships.

Russia were originally due to stage both events but new hosts were required after the country's suspension by the IAAF due to allegations of state-sponsored doping.

An accelerated bidding process to find alternative locations was launched and Guayaquil in Ecuador, Monterrey in Mexico and Ukranian capital Kyiv have all put themselves in the frame for the Race Walking event.

Also bidding is Rome, the Italian capital which is one of the contenders for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Monterrey previously hosted the event in 1993.

Meanwhile, Polish city and 2008 host Bydgoszcz is the only bidder for the World Junior Championships, which were initially due to be hosted by Kazan between July 19 and 24.

With no rivals their selection as host appears to be a formality, with the city also having the experience of hosting the 2010 and 2013 World Cross Country Championships.

The Race Walking host was initially Cheboksary with competition scheduled for May 7 and 8.

Federations had until December 22 to submit their bids, with applications now set to be reviewed by the IAAF until January 6.

An electronic vote will then take place among the IAAF Council on January 7 to decide the winning bids.
