Japan is to host the first East Asian Twenty20 Cup cricket tournament this November.

It will be played in Sano , the home of Japanese Cricket.

The four-team competition will also feature the Chinese and Korean national teams and a Chinese Dragons all-star side from Hong Kong.

It is due to played from November 3 to 6.

“We are really excited about formalising this agreement between the four countries," said Alex Naoki Miyaji, chief executive of the Japan Cricket Association.

"We are all close by so travel will be simple and all the four teams will be at a similar standard in both the men’s and women’competitions."

None of these countries feature in the International Cricket Council World League so organisers hope the East Asia Cup will help raise standards in the region.

The first women's tournament is due be held in 2017 and will be staged in Hong Kong.

The women will play in alternate years with the men's competition held in even years.

Each will be played on a round robin basis and culminate in a third place playoff and final.

All four countries will host the competition in rotation.
