Choue was accompanied at the school, where taekwondo has been taught for 10 years, by Sir John Dawanincura, President of the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee, and John Kotsifas, President of the Oceania Taekwondo Union.

Also present was South Korea's Ambassador to Papua New Guinea Seong-choon Kim and Peter Miria, President of Papua New Guinea Taekwondo.

Two Papua New Guinea taekwondo fighters won quota places for Rio 2016 at the Oceania Olympic Qualification Tournament - Samantha Kassman in the women’s under 67 kilograms competition and her nephew Maxemillion Kassman in the men’s under 68kg division.

Choue said that he hoped, one day, to see the school produce world and Olympic champions.

Port Moresby played host the Pacific Games last year when taekwondo featured on the sports programme.

Australia were the dominant force, winning nine gold medals in the men’s and women’s competitions held at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre.
