The Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling (CTFB) Federation revealed its choice today and will be taking the tournament to Africa for the first time.

A bid described as “compelling” by the Tenpin Bowling Association of South Africa, supported by the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee, won over the CTFB leadership.

The organisation will hold its Congress at the same time as the Championships between November 19 and 26.

Twenty Commonwealth countries and territories are expected to take part.

Action will take place at the Northcliff Bowling Centre which features 24 lanes, pins and lane-oiling technology, as well as extensive ball-storage facilities.

South Africa will also be hosting the 2022 Commonwealth Games, in Durban, although bowling is not on the sport programme.

The country hosted the 2011 Bowling World Cup, with Northcliff renovated for the event.
