Asmahane Boudjadar broke the world record in the women's F33 javelin as the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics Grand Prix continued in Dubai today.

The Algerian managed 11.99 metres to win the F33/34 class at the Dubai Police Officers Club stadium, adding 48cm to the record she set herself in Tunisia a year ago.

In the women's F52/53 javelin, Greece's Dimitra Korokida won with an effort of 10.24 but Iran's Zahra Kiani Haft Lang set an Asian record of 9.73m for silver.

On the track, Swiss wheelchair racer Marcel Hug continued his good form with victory in the T54 800m final.

The world bronze medallist was timed at 1 min 36.43 sec to add to his 1500m and 5,000m titles in Dubai.

Another Swiss, Bojan Mitic, finished well clear of the field to win the T33/34 800m while Spain's former multiple world champion Santiago Sanz triumphed in the men's T51/52 800m.

French European champion Pierre Fairbank was too good for the field in the men's T53 800m as he claimed gold.
