Sigulda will host the International Luge Federation (FIL) Junior World Championships in 2017, the governing body has confirmed.

The Latvian track will stage the 32nd edition of the event on February 4 and 5 next year.

It was confirmed as host after the FIL Executive Board ratified its calendar at its spring meeting in Atlanta.

Young lugers will also compete in six World Cup events next season, it has been confirmed.

Calgary, Canada's 1988 Winter Olympic host, will be the venue for the first World Cups of the campaign with two scheduled in the first week of December.

After the Christmas break, Innsbruck in Austria will serve as World Cup host on January 14 and 15, before the circuit moves to Oberhof in Germany on January 21 and 22.

Oberhof will be the last event before the World Championships in Sigulda, with Altenberg in Germany hosting on February 11 and 12 after the action in Latvia.

Winterberg will become the third German host on February 18 and 19, when the season will conclude.

It was Winterberg which hosted this year's FIL Junior World Championships, on February 6 and 7.
