The 10th seed beat his fourth-ranked opponent 21-18, 21-10 to set up a last-eight tie tomorrow with home favourite Chou Tien-Chen.

Chou, seeded fifth, looked impressive in beating ninth-ranked Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand 21-16, 21-11.

"We both know each other’s style," Wong said of Tian, to whom he lost in the first round of the All England Open earlier this year.
