The meeting, conducted via teleconference, is the organisations's first sign of activity in the four months since the election of Patrick Baumann as President in April.

Two new vice-presidents were also appointed today from the existing Council members.

One, Raffaele Chiulli, is also President of the International Powerboating Federation and the Association of International Olympic Committee (IOC) Recognised Internatonal Federations, while the other is Stephan Fox, secretary general of the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur and head of the Alliance of Independent Members of SportAccord.

International Triathlon Union President Marisol Casado was also unveiled as treasurer in the nine-strong Council.

Closer relations have been announced between SportAccord and SportAccord Convention, despite a full merger between the two bodies being abandoned earlier this year pending the resolution of other structural issues.

Nis Hatt has duly been confirmed as managing director for both organisations, a role he had already been filling on an ad-hoc basis.

Philippe Gueisbuhler has been appointed as head of administration, overseeing the running of both SportAccord and SportAccord Convention, while Matteo Vallini will continue to lead the Doping-Free Sports Unit.

Michel Filliau, a consultant who advised the Qatar Olympic Committee until last year after spending 11 years with the IOC, has been appointed senior advisor to the SportAccord President in charge of membership relations. 

Aside from appointments, a working group has been set-up to "analyse the feasibility of hosting specialised multi-sport Games in the future".

The World Combat Games is among those most likely to be revived, along with possibly the World Mind Games.

But there were no discussions today on doping despite the disarray many of the IFs find themselves in following the revelations surrounding "disappearing positives" in Russia documented in last week's McLaren Report, a spokesperson confirmed to insidethegames.

Non-Olympic as well as 20 of the 28 Summer Olympic and all the Winter Olympic sports were implicated in the report.

SportAccord, which was first conceived as a debating chamber for many of these issues, was set-up for sporting bodies to discuss the issues of the day, and has acted as a counter-balance to the IOC.

But its complete absence of a response in recent weeks shows it is now a pale shadow of its former self, with virtually no active role.

Baumann, who was elected President over Russia's Anna Arzhanova during April's SportAccord Convention, is seen as a far less troublesome choice for the wider sports world than predecessor Marius Vizer, who resigned last year following a gulf of resignations after he heavily criticised President Thomas Bach and the IOC.

Baumann is also heavily sidetracked by his work as International Basketball Federation secretary general.

The Swiss said in April that he did not agree with a possible Russian ban from the Olympic Games as "clean athletes" should not be punished.

Lalovic, appointed an IOC member last year, is also considered a close ally of Bach, as is another Council member in International Ski Federation and Association of International Olympic Winter Federations President Gian-Franco Kasper.

SportAccord Convention and Association of Summer Olympic International Federations President Francesco Ricci Bitti, another close ally of the IOC, is not on the Council, but is clearly heavily involved.

Other Council members are World Baseball Softball Confederation President Ricardo Fraccari and International World Games Association and International Canoe Federation head José Perurena.
