Heinz Pachler, the former chairman of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Sub-Committee for the Alpine European Cup, has passed away shortly after his 90th birthday.

The Austrian, who was in the role between 1979 and 1996, played a significant part in increasing the importance of the European Cup circuit.

In 1996, he was appointed Honorary Member of the FIS in recognition of his outstanding services.

Pachler served in various roles within the Austrian Ski Association and the Ski Association of Styria, as well as acting as an FIS Technical Delegate.
