Karim Bouzidi is set officially leave the International Boxing Association (AIBA) following the judging controversy that overshadowed the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro last month and has been replaced as executive director by Frenchman William Louis-Marie.

Kristin Brynildsen has also departed her role as sports director of AIBA Open Boxing and been replaced by Philippe Tuccelli.

Bouzidi was “reassigned” to another role within the organisation following the controversy which saw AIBA remove an unspecified number of boxing judges from officiating at Rio 2016 after the huge criticism of decisions made there.

Consequently, the operational responsibilities for the remainder of the Olympic boxing competition will now fall under the remit of the most senior vice-president of the AIBA Executive Board, Franco Falcinelli, President of the European Boxing Confederation.

Bouzidi is currently negotiating his severance package, insidethegames understands.

Louis-Marie had joined AIBA in May 2014 as director of communications.

He had previously worked in the same role at Baku 2015, servining the Organising Committee of the first-ever European Games for 11 months.

Prior to that Louis-Marie had worked as senior vice-president at Trace Sports, a multi-media company in Paris.

Louis-Marie's job title is acting executive director but insidethegames understands there are no plans to advertise the role in the near future.

Brynildsen had been at AIBA since November 2011 having joined them as competition manager for the World Series of Boxing.

She had been promoted to AOB sport director in June 2015 and was responsible for administrating and monitoring all AOB competitions including the Olympic Games, the World Championships, Olympic qualifying events and continental multi-sport events.

Tuccelli was previously the senior competition manager at AIBA.

He had joined them in August 2014 following six years in the events department of the International Volleyball Federation.

Nicolas Jomard, meanwhile, will replace Louis-Marie as director of communications.

"I am confident that the knowledge and experience of these appointees will provide the necessary changes to ensure AIBA’s continued success for years to come”, said AIBA President C K Wu.
