International Swimming Federation (FINA) World Cup women’s champion Katinka Hosszú ended the series in style by equalling her record of 10 gold medals at a single meet by winning another five races in Hong Kong.

The Hungarian had already gone halfway to matching her tally from the 2014 event yesterday and continued where she left off to bring the curtain down on proceedings in the Victoria Park swimming pool.

Hosszú earned her third backstroke title of the weekend by clocking 56.30sec in the 100 metres event, an event where she won one of her three Olympic gold medals at Rio 2016.

The podium had a familiar look with Australia’s Emily Seebohm and Ukraine’s Daryna Zevina finishing second and third respectively, as they had done in the 50m and 200m events yesterday.

Seebohm clocked 56.82 and Zevina touched home in 57.92.

Victories in the 100m individual medley and 400m freestyle events brought Hosszú’s haul to eight golds, but there was further success to come in the 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley.

The triple Rio 2016 gold medallist won the butterfly event in a time of 2min 06.09sec, ending narrowly ahead of her team-mate Zsuzsanna Jakabos.

A time of 4:28.50 was enough for Hosszú to win the individual medley and equal her record, with Brooke Forde of the United States and Jakabos clocking 4:29.66 and 4:37.05 to complete the top three.

"I’m definitely really happy," said Hosszú, winner of the the overall women’s World Cup for a record fifth time.

"It has been a long tour, a lot of stops, but I was able to keep it together and I came away with 10 golds."
