The Argentine Olympic Committee (COA) was a supporter of the fifth edition of the annual "Women Run" in capital city Buenos Aires.

Representatives from the governing body accompanied more than 10,000 women who participated in the five kilometre race in the city, which will host the 2018 edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games.

The event is organised by fast food giant McDonald's, one of The Olympic Partner (TOP) sponsors of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

It attracted Argentinian Olympic athletes, including sailor Cecilia Carranza who won the Nacra 17 gold medal alongside Santiago Lange at Rio 2016.

Hammer thrower Jennifer Dahlgren, a three-time South American champion, was also in attendance alongside rower María Laura Abalo, a double gold medallist at the Pan American Games.

The stars signed autographs and took photos with the runners and spectators who had turned out to watch the event.

Its purpose was to encourage healthy living, and to promote sport inclusion within families.

The sailing gold medal won by Carranza and Lange was one of three Argentina claimed at Rio 2016 in their neighbouring country Brazil.

Judoka Paula Pareto won the women's 48 kilogram division after beating South Korea's Jeong Bo-kyeong in the final, adding to her World Championship crown.

The men's hockey team then claimed a memorable gold medal after beating Belgium 4-2 in the final.

Argentina won one further medal - a silver for tennis player Juan Martín del Potro who lost the men's singles final to Britain's Andy Murray.
